What's there to like about Contact Lenses?
Contact lenses are basically weightless or weigh a lot lighter compared to spectacles or eyeglasses. Their direct fit allows the entire field of vision to be in focus. This is especially important when playing sports or driving. And because of the fact that contact lenses are transparent and entirely within the eye, you will never have to worry about whether or not they would clash with your outfit. Additionally, contact lenses allow other people to have a clear and better view of your face. They also do not collect perspiration and do not fog up like with glasses.
The Drawbacks of Contact Lenses
Conatact lenses demand regular cleaning with solutions that you also need to purchase on a regular basis. In fact, failure to clean them may cause some serious eye infections that would require medical attention. Those who wear contact lenses need to see their doctor regularly to acquire a new contact prescription. There are also instances that even when you already wear contacts, you may still have to wear spectacles. For example, you might need glasses at night after removing your contacts, or when the eyes become irritated and sore from wearing them for a long time. And these things result in doubling the cost of your eye care.
What's there to like about Spectacles?
Glasses are very easy to wear. You just have to grab them and put them on. They also do not any sterilization, do not pose any risk of infection, no irritation and redness, and they are especially effective at treating astigmatism. Given a proper medical, as well as vision insurance, they are relatively a cheaper way to treat vision problems. Moreover, these are a one-time expense and require very low maintenance.
The Drawbacks of Spectacles
One of the biggest drawbacks of wearing eyeglasses is obtrusiveness. When it's raining, they get fogged up, may clash with the outfit, and hide the face. And those who are into sports may have a difficult time wearing them because they can block the peripheral vision, get damaged, or fall off. Eyeglasses may also need frequent fixing or bending when you are not careful when using them.
Trial Run
Those who are wearers of eyeglasses for a long time might be reluctant to switch to contacts, and vice versa. The best thing to do is to ask your eye doctor whether you can have a trial run before you decide in choosing lenses of frames.
